Chabot Space & Science Center

Boldly go where no NCSWA field trip has gone before! Explore the wonders of the universe Saturday, August 12, at Oakland's Chabot Space & Science Center. Directions and information are online.

Recent field trips

Chabot has generously waived all fees for our group. Space is limited to the first 30 people (that includes one non-NCSWAn guest allowed per member) who sign up by emailing Dawn Levy at dawnlevy@stanford.edu. Tickets will be available at will-call at the front desk; mention NCSWA. The center is open to the general public as well that evening.

The cafe is open until 7 p.m. if you'd like to purchase a dinner before the event -- mention NCSWA and receive a 10 percent discount. The menu is online . No alcohol is allowed on the premises due to permitting issues.

Event schedule:

  • 6-7 p.m., dinner
  • 7-8 p.m., explore exhibits
  • 8-8:45 p.m., "The Sky Tonight" planetarium show
  • 8:45-9:15 p.m., Q & A with astronomer Conrad Jung
  • 9:15-9:45 p.m., telescope viewing (weather permitting)
