August 25-27, 2000:
Multimedia Reporting Workshop

NCSWA is proud to present the first ever (that we know of) multimedia reporting workshop for science and technology journalists, August 25-27, 2000, at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, California.

The workshop is designed for experienced journalists who want hands-on experience in multimedia reporting. Participants will receive a thorough introduction to the new language of multimedia storytelling. They will transform a text story into a multimedia story comprising text, still photos, video clips, information for graphics, and interactivity.

We’ll draw on the talents of Nina Mullen and Joe Lambert at the Center for Digital Storytelling Center in Berkeley and their instructors. Jane Stevens and Mary Miller will attend as mentors.

The cost is $500.00, which goes to the Center for Digital Storytelling and their instructional material and equipment. NCSWA will provide lunch for the three days.

This intensive, hands-on workshop is limited to only 10 people. The first 10 people to deliver a check made out to NCSWA for $500 to Rob Irion, 115 Northrop Place, Santa Cruz, CA 95060 are assured a spot. (Enrollment is limited to ten.)

Following is an agenda for the three days. For more information, contact Jane Stevens at 707-785-1739, or 707-495-1112 (cell), or jstevens@mmjourno.com.
